Five years ago, Seven Lions released an iconic collaboration track with Illenium, Said The Sky, and HALIENE with “Rush Over Me.” Combining the styles of each artist, the track is still considered one of the most emotional and melodic bass tracks of all time. The track tugs at the heartstrings both lyrically and musically, instantly compelling the listener to get lost in the music before being taken over by emotive drops and energetic yet highly melodic bass lines. Seven Lions has now created a remixed version of this beloved track, this time with a trance twist!
Heading into this year, Seven Lions teased a forthcoming album dedicated to trance after announcing his 1999 EP. Always reinventing his music, Seven Lions frequently dabbles in multiple genres dubstep, trance, and psytrance. The 1999 album features four tracks that have been reimagined as trance tracks with classic trance elements. Once such featured track is the recreated 2016 hit “Rush Over Me.” Right away, the remix incorporates characteristic old-school trance vibes of the late 90’s (hence the album name 1999) including kick snare and trance rhythms.
Regarding the inspiration behind the upcoming album, Seven Lions says, ““2020 was a strange and honestly really demotivating year for me. I was having a hard time feeling inspired and creative in the studio so I decided to just do some musical therapy and make old school trance remixes of some of my older tracks. I had a great time making these songs. They have a nostalgic vibe for me and it made me remember how much I love the process of making music, especially with zero expectations. It definitely worked and has brought me a lot of focus and I’ve been really happy just being at home and making loads of music that I’m excited to share with you down the line. For now I hope these songs bring you as much joy as they brought me!”
