Rising Korean-American dance sensation SOHMI is back with her extremely personal track “Somebody,” a song off her first four-track EP.
“Somebody” showcases SOHMI’s skills as both a singer and producer, blending melodic techno with soulful pop, a sound she called “minimal pop-tech.”
Reflecting on the new piece, SOHMI said, “A lot has happened and changed since my last release, and I’ve spent a lot of time diving deeper into my own personal history in order to better understand who I am; why I hurt the way I hurt, why I love the way I love. I think ‘Somebody’ is sort of the first piece of that story, as it takes a step backwards into some personal history of mine while looking ahead and forward, sonically. It’s part of a greater whole, my first four-track EP, and probably my most personal body of work to date.”
This release follows SOHMI’s biggest year to date, making her Coachella debut at the Yuma Tent, performing at iconic festivals like Lightning In A Bottle and Electric Forest, and opening for legends RÜFÜS DU SOL, Boris Brejcha, and Hot Since 82.
The rising producer has her first four-track EP coming out later this year, and if it is anything like this single, fans are sure to get a deep look into SOHMI’s life.
