Solardo, the tech-house Manchester duo, have teamed up with LGBQTI+ electro-pop duo Comanavago to produce a rework of the classic 1978 song “(You Make Me Feel) Mighty Real”. The remix accompanies a video that pays homage to the queer and drag queen culture of the ’70s. The video also pays tribute to Sylvester, the originator of the song, who tragically died of HIV/AIDS. Queer ravers of this period pioneered incredible dance music and the remix pays respect to the original sound while adding a modern twist.
Solardo has quickly risen to international recognition due to their three record labels and festival in Croatia, HIGHER. Their songs “XTC” with Eli Brown and “Roller Coaster” with Calvin Harris’ alias Love Regenerator both have over 5 million listens on Spotify.
Comanavago (pronounced “come and have go”) is helmed by two university friends signed to Ultra Music. Ben Dunkerley (They/them) aka Shurk and Gabriel Swarbrick (he/him) have a rockstar attitude likened to Prince that rejects gender norms and encourages all to truly be themselves.
