Fans waiting for the next Swedish House Mafia album will have to wait a while longer.
In an interview with Billboard, Swedish House Mafia member Steve Angello revealed that the group “scrapped” the would-be follow-up to their 2022 debut LP, Paradise Again.
“That question,” Angello responded when asked if there is another album from the trio in the pipeline. “We had an album, we scrapped it, and we put out singles.”
“We are still always working on music and when we feel like, ‘Ok this is good enough for us,’ we’ll put it out,” he continued. “As a creator, if you’re not feeling something, it’s not going to see the daylight.”
Performing with fellow supergroup member Sebastian Ingrosso at Tomorrowland in July 2023, Angello announced that a new Swedish House Mafia album would be released before the end of that summer.
Alongside “Ray of Solar,” which kicked off the album buzz in August 2023, other would-be album tracks released as singles since Angello’s hype-inducing comments include the long-awaited “Lioness” with Niki & The Dove, which had its original release delayed by six weeks before landing in June, and “Finally,” the group’s anticipated collaboration with Alicia Keys released in August.
Despite the lost album, Angello promised that there will be plenty more new music from the Swedish House Mafia, who reunited to perform at Tomorrowland as a trio this summer for the first time since 2012.
“There’s always a lot coming, especially with us,” he said. “We’ve made so much music in the past couple of years, so we’re just going to have this flow of putting out records.”
