In approximately two days time, the world will be counting down to the start of another year with the hopes of a better start than we had going into 2020. Those commencing 2021 with Tomorrowland’s New Year’s Eve virtual festival are in for an epic evening of partying at home with the top electronic dance music artists across the globe on the virtual stages. Building upon the success of Tomorrowland Around the World this past summer, a crew of over 200 people have worked over 32,000 hours to make Tomorrowland NYE to the next level. Let us break it down for you!
This time, the festival brings guests out of this world to the planet of NOAZ created using the latest technologies in digital design and 3D technology. Spanning across 27 time zones, the festival unites over 950,000 fans from 193 different countries. To bring this festival to life, creators used 120 computers compiled with 120 hours of video footage to create a realistic and entirely immersive experience.
As fans explore the virtual festival grounds, over 28 artists will play across 4 stages which feature lasers, fireworks, special effects, and realistic crowd experience (including cheering and singalongs). To record the artists for the event, Tomorrowland set up two state-of-the-art studios, with one in Belgium and one in Los Angeles. The artists were then filmed using 17 different 4k ultra-HD cameras along with 152 virtual cameras to create this incredible event.
