The internationally acclaimed Tomorrowland Music Festival just unveiled a magnificent 60-meter-long handmade mosaic stairway at the festival’s amphitheater (aka Mainstage) in Boom, Belgium. “The Stairway To Unity” represents the integration between art, humanity, and music, and how all must work together in order to save the Earth. Additionally, the mosaic nature symbolizes the connectedness of the over 200 countries represented by attendees of the event.
The massive stairway was built by three masters of mosaic (one from Paris, one from Cuba, and one from Italy) who took over 15,000 hours to hand-lay 5,000 handcrafted pieces. These multi-cultural designers further enforce the message of tolerance and respect for all people. Tomorrowland is well-known for its art as this is the third installation currently available for viewing year-round. The full piece and its message can be seen in the video below.
Tomorrowland was first held in 2005 and has since become one most internationally attended music festivals. This is the first year the event will take place over 3 weekends due to tickets selling out in mere minutes. Over 600,000 people attend every year due to the high production value, incredible community, and multiple musically-diverse stages. The message, music, and people at this festival are unlike any other and truly represent a utopia of international unity.
