“Rio De Janeiro has been chosen as the new home for Ultra Brasil in October 2016,” this according to an announcement made via the UMF TV YouTube channel this weekend. It comes as quite a surprise to some Ultra fans, as no mention of city changes were made when the brand initially confirmed the return to Brazil this past December. The festival had already established a reputation in the city of Sao Paolo, the same destination as other music events like TomorrowLand Brasil, Insomniac’s EDC Brasil, and Lollapalooza Brasil.
It was a matter of time before Ultra Worldwide returned to the South American festival circuit, having previously hosted there as recently as 2011. But since then, for reason’s that are unknown, the festival had been on a break from the colorful country that’s known for some of the best nightlife in the world. Rio itself has always been a huge tourist destination with it’s annual Carnival celebration, and the city will also be the location of the quickly approaching 31st Summer Olympic Games this August! Check out the Ultra Brasil trailer below, and be sure to sign-up here for updates on those October dates and the lineup.
