Prominent music label Warner Records has launched a brand new imprint focused on bringing forth today’s dance music talents: Major Recordings.
Major Recordings’ focus is first and foremost authenticity. Less focused on creating hit records, the label intends to tie its musicians and sound to the underground and sign both artists and singles of all genres.
Label executive Sam Mobarek said about the new venture, “Term-wise, that means being fair and exploring how to be inventive about how we do our deals. We want everyone to make money, but because it’s dance music we’re not just gunning for hits; we’re gunning for cultural importance.”
Major Recordings’ first signee is the up-and-coming duo PARISI. Their recent work includes production collaborations with Fred again.. and Swedish House Mafia and an official track with Buy Now, a project from Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso.
Warner Records has already proven its ability to support dance music artists with its current roster including David Guetta, ILLENIUM, RÜFÜS DU SOL, and Sam Feldt.
But the label truly believes in a new rise of electronic music, specifically referencing the success of David Guetta and Bebe Rexha and Skrillex, Four Tet, and Fred again..’s sold-out Madison Square Garden show.
The venture is spearheaded by Sam Mobarek, whose dance music career spans nearly two decades including leading the marketing department at Ultra Music, working with Beatport, and her own marketing agency, Mob Creative, which promotes MK.
