Following his tragic passing at the young age of 28, Tim Bergling left an indelible legacy. His music under the exalted moniker Avicii defined a generation. Almost single-handedly, he spawned a culture that has given millions of people around the world a home.
The one song that truly set Bergling on this world-shifting path is “Levels,” the 2011 classic with vocals from Etta James. The simple yet profound hook laid the foundation for years of popular music that would follow:
“Ohhhh, sometimes, I get a good feeling, yeah/ I get a feeling that I never, never, never had before.”
Last Thursday, October 28, “Levels” celebrated 10 years of official release, and a full decade later the track is still melting hearts and shuffling feet. To honor this momentous occasion, Avicii Music AB released a video of Bergling playing the track at his final performance at Ushuaia in Ibiza on August 28, 2016.
The video actually shows Bergling playing the Skrillex remix of “Levels,” but any seasoned fan of dance music knows how powerful a tempo change at the end of a set can be.
