White House Cracks Down On Ticket Service Fees In Wake Of Ticketmaster Hearings

All ravers know the inconvenience of service fees when buying a concert or festival ticket and now the White House is cracking down on these hidden charges.

The White House promised to work on and pass the Junk Fee Prevention Act which sets out to remove all “unfair and costly junk fees.”

This act mentions four types of hidden fees including credit card late fees, flights/ hotels’ resort fees, early termination penalties (for cable, internet, and cell services, etc.), and ticket fees.

President Biden said about the proposed legislation, “You should lower the huge service fees that companies like Ticketmaster slap onto tickets for concerts or sporting events that can easily add hundreds of bucks to a family’s night out.”

This news comes just weeks after Ticketmaster was called to a Senate hearing to discuss the fiasco surrounding the sales for Taylor Swift‘s latest tour and the resulting monopoly claims that were brought against them and parent company LiveNation.

The company used this hearing to call for greater legislation against the use of bots in the ticket-buying process.
