Attention ‘breakdancers’, break dancing is officially an Olympic sport. The International Olympic Committee just announced that skateboarding, sport climbing, surfing, and break dancing have all been added to the Paris 2024 Olympics. The Tokyo Olympics (which were initially set to take place on July 23, 2021), would have premiered skateboarding, sport climbing, and surfing but due to obvious reasons, the Tokyo Olympics were postponed. Now, break dancing has been added to the list of newly added sports which will make their premiere at the Paris Olympics in 2024. The news comes from The Associated Press which states these four events were chosen to add more “urban events” in order to “attract a younger audience.”
It will be exciting to see the feedback that the addition of these sports will bring to the Paris Olympics in 2024. Break dancing will now be referred to as “breaking” and the events will take place at Place De La Concorde in downtown Paris. Even though the Paris 2024 Olympics is far away, now is the perfect time for ‘breakdancers’ around the world to start preparing for the event. ‘Breakdancers’, it’s your time to shine.
