Okeechobee Music + Art Festival Partners With Non-Profits To Make A Difference

There’s nothing wrong with going to a music festival and having a blast, but sometimes it feels better to know there’s something progressive happening at the same time. This year, the music festival scene will welcome Okeechobee Music + Art Festival for it’s inaugural year. So far we’ve heard of the other activities planned for the 4 day event, such as Aquachobee, Jungle 51, and other great immersive dance areas. But this week we also learned that the folks behind Okeechobee are looking to make a difference in a few unique ways.

For starters, they’ve invited the non-profit organization HeadCount to join the party. HeadCount, is a non-partisan organization that works with musicians to promote participation in democracy. So, if you haven’t registered to vote yet, they’ll be able to do so for you on site. In addition, a charity auction has been announced that will feature items exclusive to this experience. “Artists will be signing a custom-made D’Angelico Okeechobee Festival guitar and festival poster, and all proceeds from the sale of these items will be split evenly between HeadCount and several local charities,” it states in the announcement. Other known non-profit organizations partnered with the festival are CleanVibes, Feeding South Florida, and Communities In Schools|Florida.

With less than a month to go, more and more details have leaked about the upcoming Okeechobee Music + Art Festival in Okeechobee, Florida. This week the Okeechobee 2016 Schedule was released, as well as a few different maps for festival goers to start planning. The festival will be held on Sunshine Grove from March 3rd – 6th, 2016 with camping options available as well. Don’t miss out! East coast origin, West coast lifestyle… Growing up I was always surrounded by the sounds of dance music in New York and Florida. However, it wasn’t until college that I was introduced to the rave scene and finally experienced the love and positivity this community is all about. I’m into warehouse undergrounds and massives like Ultra Miami, TomorrowWorld, Nocturnal Wonderland, Hard Day of the Dead, and Buku Music & Art Festival… In addition to EDM, my playlists usually have a lot of Hip-Hop, Top 40 and I’m a huge sucker for throwbacks. Hit me up if you’re attending an event in the Hollywood/LA area, as I’m always open to making new friends!
