Ellie Goulding Announces New Dance Album “A Dance Thing From Outer Space”

Singer Ellie Goulding may be making her return to electronic music. Known for her hit songs, “Love Me Like You Do,” and “Hate Me,” as well as her collaborations with Calvin Harris in “Outside” and “I Need Your Love”, Goulding recently announced her upcoming album “A Dance Thing From Outer Space”.

In a recent interview on BBC for The Joe Wicks Podcast, Ellie Goulding and Wicks discussed a variety of topics including their friendship, dealing with mental and physical health during the pandemic, and Goulding’s upcoming projects. Goulding states in the interview:

“I spent a lot of time by myself, quite introspective. I had a backlog of things I wanted to write about…It was quite deep and emotional. And this album is the opposite of that. I found this dream team of writers, who just for some reason, without even having to talk about it, were all on the same page. Together we’re on this mission just to have fun. We just want to make music for people to dance to and forget about everything in the past year.

Goulding describes that her most recent album “Brightest Blue” didn’t live up to her expectations due to major life changes, but she is now ready to move forward with a happier vibe.

“I felt like I was in a place where the songs were not reaching, they weren’t strong enough in my opinion… So I waited until I was properly ready and emotionally equipped. I also had technical stuff, like a change of management, I moved back to London and I got married. So lots of things happened in that time and it’s only really now that I feel like I’m completely ready to embrace that life again.”

The date for the album and potential collaborations are still unknown, but from the interview, it is suspected to be nothing short of uplifting dance vibes. Ellie Goulding has collabed with a variety of dance music artists such as Kygo, Zedd, Tiesto, and other electronic artists so it wouldn’t be shocking to catch some big name features on the new album.

We’re excited to see where “A Dance Thing From Outer Space” takes us.
