Today, Nero confirmed that their third album is coming via an Instagram post. View the post below. The announcement comes on the tenth anniversary of their era defining debut album, Welcome Reality.
Their second album, Between II Worlds, was released back in 2015. Since then the trio has remained very quiet. There have been no official releases since 2018. The only music they’ve shared were a series of edits on their Audius page.
In total they shared four, including an edit of Tame Impala’s “Disciples” and Daft Punk‘s “Emotion.” However, they have removed both of those edits, and now only an edit of “Relax” by Frankie Goes To Hollywood remains.
In the history of dance music, very few acts have had the same level of influence of Nero. Beyond writing some of the genre’s biggest hits like “Promises,” “Innocence,” “Me And You,” and “Must Be The Feeling,” (it’s hard to believe all of those songs were on one album) they demonstrated the universal viability of electronic production. Welcome Reality in and of itself is equal parts orchestral symphony, stadium rock opera, and electronic masterclass.
The inclusion of vocalist Alana Watson as a permanent member of the group elevated them to the same level as the rock bands from which they draw so much inspiration. A Nero set is not like sets from other electronic acts. There is a type of chemistry and energy present that matches the sheer intensity of their music; a type of chemistry and energy that only exists when musicians are engaging with their craft in the present moment.
