Welcome to the future of carbon-neutral clubbing. SWG3, the world-renowned Scottish nightclub, is trialing new technology that channels body heat from attendees to power the venue. This in turn will curb carbon emissions from the club.
The club is implementing the system known as BODYHEAT as a part of the COP26 climate conference which will begin in Glasgow on October 31. Renowned Chicago-born selector Honey Dijon will host a launch party at SWG3 for the tech on November 7.
“This pioneering BODYHEAT system will capture body heat from customers, visitors and staff before transporting it to a series of boreholes installed across the venue where it can be stored for days, weeks or even months,” a statement reads on the venue website.
The statement goes on to say that this new tech could save up to 70 tonnes of carbon per year.
“BODYHEAT is our innovative contribution to a global issue, and will help us to dramatically decrease our energy consumption – bringing us one step closer to becoming a carbon-neutral venue in the not-so-distant future,” said Andrew Fleming Brown, SWG3 Managing Director.
