NOLA Festival Buku Music + Art Project To Take a Break In 2023

New Orleans-based Buku Music+Art Project just announced that after ten years, they are going to take a break in 2023. Following a successful run this past March with headliners Porter Robinson, Rezz, and Alison Wonderland, the multi-genre festival stated on their social media they will not return in 2023.

The announcement cites issues with the current model and that this is not a goodbye to the New Orleans staple, but a “see you down the road”.

The venue, Market Street Power Plant, was recently bought by an investment firm to turn into a hub for entertainment, retail, hotel, and creative office space.

The previous owner hoped to turn the land into a Live Nation music venue but put the property on sale in 2020 due to revenue issues stemming from the coronavirus pandemic. This may be part of the reason for the festival pause, although there has been no confirmation from the Buku team.
