MPH and Skrillex have teamed up to release their new single, “Mirage.”
Marking their first collaborative release, the swingy garage banger arrives today via DisOrder and Capitol Records, merging the talents of one of NUKG’s brightest stars and the global electronic music icon in an all-out blitz of driving drums, sputtering basslines, and infectious vocal chops.
Sampling Red Rat’s 1996 Jamaican dancehall classic, “Shelly Ann,” MPH and Skrillex reportedly recorded the track in one afternoon studio session. “Skrillex would do some bits and pass the laptop to me. I’d do some bits and, pretty soon, we’d married our sounds together,” MPH said in a statement.
A lauded ID since MPH debuted the track in his set at EDC Las Vegas in May, “Mirage” arrives amid another ascendant summer for the Canterbury-hailing producer and DJ, born Myles Fairbairn. After gigs at Parklife in the UK and at U.S. festivals such as Lollapalooza and Outside Lands, he’ll roll on to San Diego’s CRSSD Festival next month ahead of his biggest run of headline shows yet this fall, including North American dates in Portland, Denver, Toronto, and New York City through late November.
Skrillex, meanwhile, is fresh off the release of his sixth studio album, SOMA, and is headed for major headline shows in Seattle and Chicago this month and next.
