EDM Maniac: Where does the name ARTIX! come from? How did it originate? Is there a story behind it?
ARTIX!: Long before I started producing music, ARTIX was my online gaming alias. It still remains that way.
EDM Maniac: How did you first start getting into music? How old were you when you first started to show interest? What made you want to pursue music as a career?
ARTIX!: I’ve been into music from a young age; listening to my uncle’s AC/DC cassettes had a big influence on me. I didn’t have enough money for instruments so I made my own at home using a battery, I was 10 years old at the time. 2 years later my family bought me an electric guitar and I started a small metal band. Ever since I was young I had always wanted to be a rock star. The other kids were playing hide and seek or soccer but I was pretending to be on stage in front of thousands of people, playing live shows.
EDM Maniac: In your own words, how does culture inspire music? In what ways has your Argentinian culture inspired your own music? In what ways have you put your Argentinian culture into your own music?
ARTIX!: Truth be told my music is very Argentine, I have a ‘Cumbiero’ flow. Cumbia is one of the main genres in my country and even though I don’t listen to it very much for some reason it just flows in my blood. You can say my bass sound has a very Argentine style.
EDM Maniac: When you first started producing music, what genre of music did you focus on? Has it always been dubstep? If so, why has dubstep been your favorite genre of EDM to produce? Would you ever want to explore any other genres of EDM music?
ARTIX!: I started at the age of 12 with my metal band, we did a lot of covers. Soon after I discovered hip-hop and started writing my own raps. But once I got to know dubstep I thought “This is it”! Dubstep brought together everything that I had grown to love so at 16 years old I started to produce my own beats. I am still willing to experiment with different genres, why not? Music is music.
EDM Maniac: Your new collaboration with Jessica Audiffred, “Trippin” is an amazing new Latin American dubstep track. Can you talk about how this track developed from start to finish? What was it like working with Jessica Audiffred?
ARTIX!: ‘Trippin’ is a Latin hit! I’m really happy with the way it turned out. Jessica Audiffred is a great exponent and really represents Latinos so it was a very special collab for me. She sent me the idea for the drop and I sent it back with an intro. The bars came pretty quickly and quite naturally. After 2 versions we finally settled on the final release. It was a great honor for me. I’ve loved working with Point Blank, Jessica Audiffred, Bommer, AKIRAH. I would really love to do a collab with Borgore.
EDM Maniac: Who has been your favorite artists to collaborate with so far in your career? Who would you like to collaborate with that you haven’t already?
ARTIX!: I’ve really been inspired by Borgore, Subtronics, SYZY. I have also been very inspired by a Latin Hip Hop artist by the name of CANSERBERO.
EDM Maniac: What artists or artists within the electronic dance music community inspire you the most? How come? Do you have any other musical inspirations? How about outside of music, what inspires you outside of music?
ARTIX!: I’ve really been inspired by Borgore, Subtronics, SYZY. I have also been very inspired by a Latin hip-hop artist by the name of CANSERBERO.
EDM Maniac: Do you have any hobbies or activities outside of music that you enjoy? What are they? Are there any hobbies that you would like to pursue this year?
ARTIX!: I love to play video games. I would love to start some more physical activities this year but with the lockdowns, everything is closed in Argentina.
EDM Maniac: If you could headline any festival in the entire world, which festival would it be and why? What festival would you like to perform at that you have not been able to perform at yet?
ARTIX!: Lost Lands is my biggest dream and I will work hard to achieve it. It is an absolute paradise for bass music.
EDM Maniac: What are you most excited about this year? What are you looking forward to the most both personally and professionally?
ARTIX!: I have a lot of music going out this year! I also have new management at MAYD Artists Agency. I have a strong team behind me which excites me a lot. Personally, I continue to improve as a person one day at a time while also advancing my music career.
EDM Maniac: What can fans expect from ARTIX! this year… New album, EP, collaborations, or live streams? What can fans look forward to this year?
ARTIX!: For my fans, I want to tell them to please look out for my new EP, major collabs, video clips, and just a whole lot of new content.
EDM Maniac: What advice can you give to younger artists who are trying to break into the industry? Is there anything that you would tell your younger self that you know now that you wish you knew when you were first starting out?
ARTIX!: I want to tell all new artists to never stop working! You can achieve anything if you work hard. It’s not impossible but it’s not easy either. You will have good moments and bad ones but if you are persistent and consistent with your work you can achieve anything you want. I would say to my younger self to continue with faith, ignore the haters and stay focused on yourself.
