City Hearts Winter Is Coming Tour

Desert Hearts is a record label, festival series, and electronic music community that is experiencing a level of growth that has been seen by few.

Having just celebrated their third anniversary with 100 hours of nonstop house and techno as well as 3,000 friends, the Desert Hearts crew have reached a unique status in the festival scene. There are few other tests that are highly respected n both the mainstream media, but are young enough to not be considered “dead” by a series of people who happened to attend the first one.

The LA Times loved their three year anniversary festival, as was made clear by their article on the cover of the Calendar section, and I’ve heard no serious grievances from their kaleidoscopically clad fanbase (apparently it got cold at night). With such a comprehensive output of love from the community, Mikey Lion, Marbs, Porkchop, Lee Reynolds, and Deep Jesus are taking the opportunity to spread their message of House. Techno. Love. all over the U.S.

This Saturday, December 5th Desert Hearts will kick off their 13-stop City Hearts tour in LA at the Belasco Theater. This tour that has been cleverly titled “Winter Is Coming”, will take the spirt of their SoCal gathering to a city near you.

If you ask most large festival promoters, they’d tell you its impossible to compress a whole weekend (or 100 hours) of festie goodness into one night, but then again, most promoters don’t even try. One of the key factors in a fest is the environment, and its hard to replicate a completely open festival ground within four walls, but after the success of last year’s sold out City Hearts tour, it’s clear that DH is doing something right. With music from all five members of the DH DJ crew bumping all night on Funktion-Ones, these indoor gatherings will feature live art, face and body painting, and fire performers.

The tour will also include several more themed like “Mountain Hearts”, which will take place in North Lake Tahoe. Citing their fondness for skiing and snowboarding, the DH crew specifically details Mountain Hearts as “an excuse to go boarding for the weekend”. Another special date on the tour is “Mayan Hearts”, which is their new year’s eve date that will take place in the ancient Mayan city of Tulum, Mexico. Mayan Hearts will be expanded to include several other DJs like Atish and Sabo, and will be the first Desert Hearts event to not take place on American soil.
