The lineup is out for the 2016 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
The festival returns to the desert for two weekends: April 15-17 and April 22-24. Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday Jan. 6th at 11am. ALL GA passes for WEEKEND 1 sold out in the presale back in June. So you only have the option to get the GA with Shuttle Pass, which will cost you a bit more money. You can still purchase a GA pass for weekend 2 without buying the shuttle pass. You can find more information about tickets and pricing here.
When you go to buy tickets on Wednesday, be sure to create an account with Front Gate Tickets before you do anything. This way you just log into your account and wait for the tickets to go on sale. You’ll choose which weekend you want to attend and then you’ll be placed in an online waiting room. From there you will wait…and wait… and wait until its your turn to purchase. (Just keep your fingers crossed that they don’t sell out) It took less than 40 minutes for the festival to sell out last year. Be sure to read Coachella’s step-by-step guide on how to purchase tickets here.
Now back to the lineup. This year features something for everyone. LCD Soundsystem will be reuniting on Friday. Ellie Goulding returns to the Empire Polo Club after performing there back in 2014. I was there for her performance, and I can’t wait to see her again! As for DJ’s – Friday is stacked. My personal highlights: Jack Ü, Underworld, 2manydjs, Robert DeLong, Bob Moses, Marco Carola, Nicole Moudaber, Sasha, Nic Fanciulli, Sam Feldt and Nora En Pure.
Guns N’ Roses will be ready to rock the desert on Saturday. Other headliners include Ice Cube, Disclosure, Zedd, A$AP Rocky, CHVUCHES, Halsey and James Bay. Other electronic acts and DJ’s performing on Saturday include: RL Grime, ZHU, Tchami, Nina Kraviz, Snails, Justin Martin, AlunaGeorge, Dubfire, Mano Le Tough, Matoma and Amine Edge & Dance. I’m excited to catch Lost Frequencies on Saturday.
Sunday marks the first time that a DJ will be closing out the festival on main stage. Calvin Harris will have those honors. He last played at Coachella back in 2014. I caught his performance which seemed like he was just running through his hits. I hope his set this year has a little more energy. You can bet that most attendees will be at this set, packing the polo field. If you were at Kaskade’s record breaking set last year – you know what I’m talking about. I’m betting that the crowd for Calvin Harris will be even bigger!
On Sunday, be sure to catch Sia! I feel that her performance will be one that everyone will be talking about for weeks after the festival. Other headliners include: Major Lazer, Flume, Beach House, the 1975, Rancid and Miike Snow. Electronic acts and DJ’s on Sunday include: The Chainsmokers, Maceo Plex, Baauer, KSHMR, Adam Beyer & Ida Engberg, Hudson Mohawke, Claptone, TOKiMONSTA, John Digweed, Thomas Jack, AC Slater and Tensnake.
If you haven’t noticed, Coachella is also packed with nearly three dozen diverse female performers this year and we couldn’t be more excited.
Now many of you will be booking hotels for Coachella. If you haven’t done so, DO IT NOW. Prices will be climbing the closer we get to April. I booked my rooms for 2016 back in May. I always book a year in advance to lock in the lowest prices. EDM Maniac has some of the cheapest rooms available in the Coachella Valley for both weekends of the festival. Coachella is my favorite festival for a number of reasons. From the vibes, to the landscape, artwork, music, food and more – if you haven’t been to this festival – this is the year for you to check it out! Trust me, you’ll keep going back.
Stay with EDM Maniac for continuing coverage of Coachella 2016. See you there for weekend 2!
