Insomniac Events’ Pasquale Rotella Addresses George Floyd’s Death: “My Heart Breaks With You”

Founder of Insomniac Events, Pasquale Rotella, has come forward to address the recent death of unarmed black man George Floyd. The result of the incident has sparked nationwide protests fueled by frustration and anger over the past few days.

In his statement today, Rotella addresses the dance music community by acknowledging the incident. “I’ve been shocked, frustrated, and saddened after hearing about George Floyd’s death. It’s hard to fathom how these things can still be happening.”

Rotella goes on to encourage the dance music community to come together and embrace some of the community’s core values: Peace, Love, Unity, and Respect. “I call upon each and every one of us to do everything we can to live our lives by the ideals our culture was founded on: PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, & RESPECT. It’s why I fell in love with this community, and it’s the reason I’ve dedicated my life to it. These words are important now and every single day.”

Over the past few days, I’ve been shocked, frustrated, and saddened after hearing about George Floyd’s death. It’s hard to fathom how these things can still be happening. It’s difficult to watch the news and see the division, violence, and hardships people are facing. It truly breaks my heart. Although we all come from different backgrounds and circumstances, there’s one thing that binds our rave community together: acceptance. No matter where you come from, the color of your skin, or your sexual orientation at the end of the day we are all human and deserve EQUALITY. I call upon each and every one of us to do everything we can to live our lives by the ideals our culture was founded on: PEACE, LOVE, UNITY, & RESPECT. It’s why I fell in love with this community, and it’s the reason I’ve dedicated my life to it. These words are important now and every single day. To treat others as you would like to be treated is so much more than just a saying our parents or teachers taught us when we were young. I implore you to love and care for one another, and to take the values of our beautiful community to heart. I know that nothing we can say about the past can undo this tragedy, but our actions today can create a future that is so much greater than the world we are living in now. We must come together with love for there to be change. Lots of Love, prayers, and healing powers to the Floyd family. My heart breaks with you. #GeorgeFloyd
