The wait is finally over. The new ODESZA album, The Last Goodbye, is out now.
This album is their first music under the ODESZA name since 2018. There are 13 tracks total, all encompassing their signature deep and entrancing sound.
The album opens with the beautifully cinematic “This Version Of You” (ft. Julianna Barwich), a track that feels like someone’s life flashes before their eyes. The works then pick up speed, coming to a head with the tribal drums and gospel vocals of “Behind The Sun”.
The next few songs are indie-inspired like “North Garden”, before finishing on the smooth and dreamy “Light Of Day” (feat. Olafur Arnalds). The album is innovative and feels both humanistic in its use of drums and emotionally raw lyrics and otherworldly with its soft atmosphere and airy vocalists.
ODESZA formed in 2012 at Western Washington University by members Harrison Mills and Clayton Knight. Shortly after graduation, they released their debut album, Summer’s Gone, followed by a 2013 tour with Pretty Lights.
More recently the duo collaborated on a 2020 album with Australia’s Golden Features entitled and under the name Bronson. ODESZA is now set to kick off their summer tour in Seattle on July 29.
