6 Artists For Your Summer ’16 Soundtrack

One of the greatest joys that we as music lovers often find is seeing the success of an artist we’ve followed for a while. Whether we catch them as they’re coming up, or revel in the revival of their career, feeling ahead of the trend is always invigorating. Today, the world wide web has not only made finding new music easier, it’s made sharing it an ever-growing online community.

So, in the spirit of sharing, I decided to put together a list of 6 artists that should be included in your Summer 16 soundtrack:

SNBRN
After making what Billboard called “an effortless transition from remixes to originals in 2015,” SNBRN has continued to deliver an array of awesome original tracks this year. Tapping into his own style of house music, his live sets are even more satisfying surrounded by likeminded lovers of the genre. Check out his b2b set with Dr. Fresch at EDC Las Vegas 2016:

NGHTMRE

Over the past 2 years, NGHTMRE has made quite the name for himself. With a sound that has been described as “organic and outside of the EDM norm,” his trip to the trap gets any crowd hyped. I myself thoroughly enjoyed his set at this year’s EDC Las Vegas 2016. A must listen is his latest release with another favorite of mine, Flux Pavilion, here:

Chocolate Puma
This Amsterdam duo who Laidback Luke elected the Godfathers of House know their way around the scene. They’ve played a vital role in the evolution of dance music, and continue to supply fans with a flawless listening experience that leaves them always wanting more. Most recently, Chocolate Puma‘s track “Raise Your Hands Up” with fellow Dutch artist Sander Van Doorn is one of my favorites:

Jai Wolf
Described by Diplo as a “success story,” Jai Wolf is an inspiring example of how nothing is ever impossible. After reaching what he called a “ceiling” with dubstep, and started to redefine remixing with a focus on a “dance beat.” Now, the 24 year old has seen his sound amplify to an outstanding fanbase. Be sure to listen to his mix on BBC Radio‘s Diplo & Friends:

AutoErotique

Maybe I’m late on this game, but Canadian duo AutoErotique have been keeping my playlist on point. With recent releases like “Ratchet,” “AUH,” and a collaboration on Steve Aoki‘s 4-track EP, 4OKI, the boys of AutoErotique just keep em coming. My personal favorite is a collaboration they did with Hunter Siegel on this single “OTF”:

MORTEN
I had the pleasure of interviewing him a few years back, but most recently MORTEN has been bringing the heat. Or, maybe the “FIYAA.” Either way, 2016 has been packed with powerful new music from the Danish DJ and producer. He too has a place on Aoki’s recent EP, on their track “KIDS.” You should also treat yourself to his remix of Garmiani‘s “Bomb A Drop” here:

East coast origin, West coast lifestyle… Growing up I was always surrounded by the sounds of dance music in New York and Florida. However, it wasn’t until college that I was introduced to the rave scene and finally experienced the love and positivity this community is all about. I’m into warehouse undergrounds and massives like Ultra Miami, TomorrowWorld, Nocturnal Wonderland, Hard Day of the Dead, and Buku Music & Art Festival… In addition to EDM, my playlists usually have a lot of Hip-Hop, Top 40 and I’m a huge sucker for throwbacks. Hit me up if you’re attending an event in the Hollywood/LA area, as I’m always open to making new friends!
