Tomorrowland, one of the world’s most in-demand music festivals, has officially released a behind-the-scenes documentary about 2020’s virtual festival. The festival went virtual this year due to the ongoing Coronavirus crisis. While forced to postpone, the festival still wanted to provide a unique experience for Tomorrowland fans at home. And they did.
‘Tomorrowland Around The World’ was an immersive virtual experience that replicated the festival’s extraordinary production and atmosphere. The pay-per-view event garnered nearly 140,000 digital tickets sold, nearly 1,00,000 views and multiple media partnerships which allowed them to break just about even for the massive undertaking. According to reports, the virtual festival cost nearly $6 million to produce.
This year’s 2020 virtual festival produced by Tomorrowland took the at-home viewing experience to the next level. Nearly 60 DJ’s recorded their sets in green-screen environments while hundreds of workers designed all the visual elements. It was a groundbreaking experience, and now the festival is sharing all the magic it took to create the event in just a few months.
Continuing with the success of the virtual event, Tomorrowland has told Billboard exclusively that they will be producing a new virtual festival for New Years Eve. While not many details are known, this will surely be a great way for Tomorrowland to keep in touch with their fans on the biggest night of the year. Stay tuned for more details about that coming soon.
