5 Dance-Provoking Sets We Cant Wait To Experience At Day.MVS XL

This weekend, FNGRS CRSSD, the San Diego mastermind behind CRSSD Festival, will open its doors to an unforgettable weekend at DayMVS.XL.

On August 6-7, the city’s house and techno communities will come together to dance at an urban oasis called Waterfront Park––a seaside venue filled with water fountains, clear walking paths, and lush green grass.

There’s no denying the revitalized energy this party brings to town. Having said that, this is not your usual night-outing in the city’s infamous Gaslamp Club District. This is a unique 21+ weekender under the San Diego skyline.

During the day, prime acts like Eric Prydz, Duke Dumont, and Miss Monique will take over the Northside of the festival grounds. As the sun goes down, talents like ANNA, Overmono, Pig&Dan, and DJ Minx will fill the night sky with four-on-the-floor beats on the Southside. Once the fun is tucked away for the evening, event-goers will have a plethora of FNGRS CRSSD curated after parties to attend.

Now, here are five dance-provoking sets you won’t want to miss along with a playlist for the thrilling weekend ahead:

1. Purple Disco Machine

In 2009, Tino Piontek, founded the famously known name Purple Disco Machine, making a mark in the dance music scene. With his disco and house music production, he has hit a billion streams and sits high on Beatport charts.

Apart from being highly sought-out for his original production, Piontek is one of the most in-demand remixers. He’s worked with worldwide acts like Dua Lipa, Elton John, Gorillaz, New Order, Lady Gaga, among others.

Pointek has crafted work under Defected Records, Higher Ground, Sweat It Out, Warner Records, and Milk & Sugar. As you settle into day one, you can catch PDM on the Northside starting at 6PM.

2. Vintage Culture

Lukas Ruiz, known as the beloved Vintage Culture, is a Brazillian DJ and house music producer who strives to connect with listeners through rhythm. Since kickstarting his journey in 2008, Ruiz has landed the front page of Rolling Stone, 2 billion global streams, a $100,000 COVID-19 relief fund in Brazil, and has gained a loyal fanbase.

You may have heard his popular track “Slow Down” with Jorja Smith or solo track “You Give Me A Feeling.” Regardless, get ready for Vintage Culture’s infectious sound during day one.

3. DJ Minx

Detroit’s finest, Jennifer Witcher, also known as DJ Minx, is an LGBTQ+ house and techno DJ, producer, and label founder. Witcher has been in the game for three decades now becoming a staple in the Detroit dance scene.

Making it her mission to hold space for other women in the industry and local talent, Witcher founded the record label and DJ collective “Woman on Wax.”

According to Spotify, in 2015, Mixmag listed Witcher as one of the 20 women who have shaped the history of dance music, and in 2016, Time Out New York named her one of the “Best house music DJs of all time.”

4. Ben Böhmer

Progressive and deep house connoisseur, Ben Böhmer, is DJ, composer, and producer from Göttingen, Germany. While fostering work under Anjunadeep, Cercle Music, Keller Records, and his very own Ton Töpferei Records, Ben has made it clear that he’s in this for the long run.

Begin Again, an album that was released on Anjunadeep in 2021, has accumulated over 40 million streams with remixes from major talent like HAAi, Barry Can’t Swim, and The Blaze.

On the same note, his popular hot air balloon performance above the Turkish desert gained more than 20 million views. This streaming performance granted him the “Best Live Streamed Artists” award, and you can watch it below.

5. Nastia

Nastia is a Ukrainian DJ who unexpectedly kickstarted her musical career in 2005 after starting a dancing gig. Since she was young, Nastia loved to dance and was damn good at it.

After getting a taste of dance music culture, she took it upon herself to go beyond dancing. In 2006, Nastia began DJing at different parties, making a name for herself. She managed the infamous iHeartMedia KISS FM radio station, where you can listen to her weekly show “Propaganda,” and founded her own label under the same name.
