The massacre in Orlando is still fresh in the minds and hearts of many around the world. As a gay man, this tragedy struck me hard. I had to stop watching all of the tv coverage because it hits too close to home. I’ve worked in tv news for over a decade and this is one of the saddest stories I’ve ever encountered. We go to gay clubs and bars because we feel safe there. It’s like a second home. We should feel safe there.

Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas is this weekend. The 20th anniversary is taking place at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. EDC is a second home to thousands of ravers and music lovers from ALL walks of life. We come together to welcome and embrace our differences. This will be my 12th EDC and it always feels like going home.

Pasquale Rotella commented on security at EDC Las Vegas and assured everyone that EDC will be one of the safest places to be at. The founder and CEO of Insomniac Events posted this message on Facebook:

“Please know that we take this issue very seriously, and prepare year-round with local, state and federal agencies to create the safest environment for our Headliners. Not only do we secure the festival grounds, but we monitor a mile perimeter around the venue as well. People who attempt to rush the fences or sneak in will be arrested, as they have been in previous years. We spare no expense to ensure that EDC isn’t just a magical experience, but a highly protected one as well.”

According to Insomniac, not only will EDC be celebrating it’s 20th anniversary, it will also help celebrate the broadcast of the first ever legal gay marriage ceremony in Nevada. This news comes after a very emotional week for the gay community. The ceremony will take place inside of one of two EDC Wedding Chapels and will be live streamed.

EDC Live, presented by Smirnoff will be live streamed on YouTube, Insomniac.com, LNTV.com and on the official EDC Facebook page. Millions of people from around the world will be able to live stream EDC and watch this historic ceremony. You’ll also have a front row seat to watch all of the action from the festival all weekend long. The live stream is Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 11:30pm until 8:30am ET  / 8:30pm-5:30am PT.  There will be a rebroadcast after each live stream. The EDC LIVE artist lineup will be announced in the coming days.
